RCS (Rich Communication Services) is a modern messaging upgrade that gives you features like read receipts, typing indicators, high-quality photo sharing, and better group chats.
On Android:
RCS is available through the Google Messages app. To enable it:
- Open Google Messages.
- Tap your profile icon (top right) > Messages settings.
- Go to RCS chats and toggle it On.
- If required, follow the prompts to verify your number.
- Once enabled, you'll see enhanced features when messaging other RCS-enabled users.
On iPhone:
Note: You'll need to be running iOS 18 or later. To enable it:
- Open Settings, then go to Apps
- Navigate to Messages
- Under RCS Messaging, toggle it On.
